About the Fauquier Community Golf Club

The Fauquier & District Golf Club, established in 1967, has a rich local history. Located on the shores of Arrow Lake in the West Kootenays, this 9-hole course offers panoramic views of the lake and the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges. Its founding coincided with a pivotal moment for the community of Fauquier, which was largely submerged in 1968 due to the creation of the Keenleyside Dam reservoir. As the town relocated to higher ground, the golf course became a vital recreational and social hub for the “new” Fauquier, serving both residents and visitors. From the start, the course was designed to accommodate all skill levels, offering a fun experience for beginners and a rewarding challenge for seasoned golfers. The course has evolved significantly, with the switch from sand greens to grass in 1998, along with the addition of irrigation, resulting in a lusher, greener layout.
Over the decades, the Fauquier & District Golf Club has remained a cornerstone of the local community, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for golfers. In recent years, renewed energy and grassroots ambition have driven its growth as a non-profit organization. This revitalization includes the launch of seasonal leagues for men, women, and mixed twosomes, welcoming golfers from all backgrounds to enjoy the sport amid the stunning beauty of the Arrow Lakes region. The club’s operation, run by community-minded members, underscores its role as more than just a golf course—it serves as a social hub and a point of pride for the tight-knit community of Fauquier. Its enduring presence reflects the dedication of local residents to maintaining and enhancing this cherished recreational asset.
